Vince Flynn lost his battle today.

Vince Flynn died of prostate cancer today at the age of 47.  He was a well known author of spy thrillers, many featuring counterterrorism agent Mitch Rapp.  He had publicly announced his diagnosis of stage 3 prostate cancer two years ago.  American Assassin, a movie starring Bruce Willis as Mitch Rapp, is in pre-production.

He got sixty rejection letters from publishers before he finally self-published his first book.  He hand sold it in the twin-cities to become a local best-seller, which landed him an agent and a book deal with Simon & Schuster.  Every single one of his books became a New York Times best-seller, and he was about to have Bruce Willis star in the movie version of one – this is a guy who saw a lot of dreams come true, and had a wife and three children who loved him.  He was very involved with local charities at home.  Young he may have been, but he certainly was living life to the fullest.
